We Ride the Unicorn
We ride the unicorn,
Ardent, without repose,
Eyes wild and hair unshorn,
Scenting the musky rose. Before us fountains gush
In jets like filigree,
And, at our giddy rush,
The sparrows burst and flee.We ride the unicorn...
Above his thrusting horn
The twilight star has shone...And sparks of crystal sift
The shadow, as we drift
On rhythmic monotone.---Bert Laub
